The Geographer Strabo, mentions about the borders of Cappadocia in his book ”Geographika” (Geography-Anatolia XII. XIII, XIV) written in the Roman period. According to this source; Cappadocia is bordered by the Taurus Mountains in the south, Aksaray on the west, Malatya on the east and till the Black Sea in the north. Today, Cappadocia name is rather used for a space of 250 m2 – bordered with 4 cities as Kayseri, Nevsehir, Aksaray and Nigde. The most visited area is the surroundings of Nevsehir covering Uchisar, Goreme, Avanos and Urgup followed by Derinkuyu, Ihlara and Kaymakli.
Located at 20 km. east of Nevsehir, Urgup is settled in a deep valley and thousands of years history like other important visits, today with a population of 17,000 locales. Beginning with the Byzantine era, it was named as (Osiana (Assiana), Hagios Prokopis, Bashisar, Burgut and finally Urgup.

As seen around Uc Guzeller Fairy Chimneys (Three Beauties), Yunak Street and many other locations, Urgup is in a settled valley with fairy chimneys and caves shaped by erosion for centuries.
THE CLIMATE OF URGUP
In summers, there are days the temperature goes up to 35 Celsius. In winters, it is mostly cold and snowy in January. Its colors and beauty are all different in all seasons.

Our hotel is only 10 min. drive from the bus station and 50 minutes drive from Kayseri Airport. Most of the public buses have a free of charge service to our property.
